Founded in 1970 with the first showroom opening in Bitterne in 1977, Solent Kitchen Design has stood firm as a local family business for over 40 years. Peter Praine, the founder, was a boat builder by profession and turned his hand to kitchen fitting when his family was young. Soon after, Peter set up the business, employing a fitting team alongside design and showroom employees. Now it's under 2nd generation ownership, being passed from Peter to David in the late 1990's. David trained as a quantity surveyor and gained broad construction experience before realising the opportunity to combine this experience with a passion for quality and design and an opportunity to advance the family business.

The market has changed immeasurably during those 40 years but our award winning showroom is continuously updated with the latest design styles and our ethos has remained solid - to be a friendly company providing a proper design service, high quality rigid units, educated advice and complete project installation by our own employed fitters.
