A Curved Kitchen and Bespoke Bar in the New Forest

Brockenhurst, New Forest

The Project:

Mr & Mrs E have a beautiful home on the edge of Brockenhurst in the New Forest.  With plans underway to extend their kitchen living space and adjust the internal layout they contacted us early in their project to discuss the possibilities for their new space.

With a room so large and a couple who enjoy time with friends and family, there were many design suggestions and ideas discussed, from having a large sleek kitchen island as a central feature to relocating the working kitchen to a different part of the room or incorporating modern bench seating.  Our clients really liked the principle of having a working kitchen area that was distinctly their domain within the open plan room.  They were keen that their guests did not have to walk through the working kitchen space to get to another part of the room.  They were also keen that the kitchen was a beautiful feature with all of the storage and workspace they required but did not consume the entire room.

Finally settling on the curved peninsula layout for the working kitchen area Mr & Mrs E chose Stoneham Kitchens Edwardian furniture range and after seeing a few paint samples decided on the bespoke Farrow & Ball colour Selvedge 306.  The feature end cone and curved back panel beautifully utilise the standard colour of fogged oak and the units are topped with Corian white worktops and a feature piece, following the curve of the cone, in Corian juniper.

A separate area of the room features a magnificent bar area with 2 sets of pocket doors and a Siemens wine climate cabinet.

The kitchen in this Brockenhurst home now features a Bora downdraft hob, Siemens ovens and warming drawer, a Quooker boiling water tap, full height fridge freezer and numerous storage solutions – from spice racks, le mans corner mechanism and cutlery trays to full height larders with internal drawers.
